Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik (1853-1918) was a prominent Rosh Yeshiva in Lithuania who created a novel approach to Torah study. He was the son of Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, the “Beis HaLevi.” He was the Rosh Yeshiva of Volozhin and later rabbi of Brisk, and he printed his renowned Chiddushei Rabbi Chaim HaLevi. His grandsons were the prominent Roshei Yeshiva of Brisk.
This recommendation is for his student, Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Zimmerman, son of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak, rabbi of Halusk and Kremenchuk, and the son-in-law of Rabbi Baruch Dov [Ber] Leibowitz. Rabbi Yaakov Moshe was born c. 1877 and studied under Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk, and then in the yeshiva of Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz. He was rabbi of Konotop. He moved to the United States in 1930 where he passed away in 1962.
