Important letter regarding opposition to non-religious supervisors in Talmud Torahs, dated Iyar 1948. “Since we have received from our holy rabbis…from generation to generation…and experience has shown us the spiritual dangers to Torah institutions to allow non-religous supervisors to enter…regarding any point….other than hygiene…it is an obligation to warn all the Talmud Torah institutions…that it is prohibited…to allow them into the realm of education…” The letter is typewritten and bears 19 signatures of various rabbis, including: signature of Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer [with his signature and personal stamp], Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlop, Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna [Rosh Yeshiva of Chevron], and other signers.
