A machzor with names and prayers according to the Kabbalah. On the back of the title page is written: “This prayer is in possession of our master and teacher…the Kabbalist…Mordechai Sharabi, great-grandson and grandson of the Rashash.”
Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi (1908-1983) was considered to be the elder of the Kabbalists of Jerusalem. Born in Yemen and immigrated to Jerusalem in 1932, he was one of the rabbis of the Kabbalist yeshivah Beit El. He founded and headed the Kabbalist Nahar Shalom Yeshivah, named after Rabbi Shalom Sharabi. He was known as a holy man and a miracle worker who took care of and supported the many poor people who came to him for help.
Throughout the book’s leaves are Kabbalistic glosses in two different Yemenite handwritings. The comments are mainly on the liturgy of the Shemonah Esreh prayer of Rosh Hashanah, and especially on the Mussaf prayer.
