Rabbi Meir Auerbach was born in 1815. He was first the
av”d of Kowel and then, in 1856,
av”d in Kalisz. In 1860, he immigrated to Jerusalem and Rabbi Shmuel Salant transferred the leadership of the city to him, calling him “Rabbi of Jerusalem.” He is known by the name of his work,
Imrei Binah .
Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda Loewe (1713-1889) was a genius in both the revealed and hidden aspects of Torah. He served as
rav”d in Jerusalem for over forty years.
