Handwritten compilation with novellae on the topic Reicha Milta. From the Mahara”m Schick’s Torah novellae, handwritten by his disciple Rabbi Moshe Fischer. There is something of an introduction at the top of the first leaf: “Halachic novellae I wrote from the gaon, the Av Beit Din of Yergen, on the topic Reicha Milta.” And further along, “Written in 1851.” At the top of leaf 6, “Lessons in Reicha Milta for the year 1842.” The writer’s name is signed on the last page: “Moshe Fischer.” Rabbi Moshe – Mahara”m Schick [1807-1879] was the Av Beit Din of Yergen, near Pressburg, and rabbi and rosh yeshivah of Chust starting in 1861. He was the primary disciple of the Chata”m Sofer, who affectionately called him “my bookcase.” He was the leader of Hungarian Jewry after the Chata”m Sofer. After his passing, he was eulogized “From Moshe (the Chata”m Sofer) until Moshe (the Mahara”m Schick), there was no one like Moshe.” His books are ranked in the highest echelons of Torah literature of all time.
