Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh of Modena (1571-1648) was a prominent Italian sage, noted for his opposition to kabala and the book of the Zohar. Rabbi Yom Tov Lipmann Muhlhausen’s “Sefer HaNitzachon” was a polemic opposing Christians and Karaites [written c. 1400]. The book aroused interest in the 17th-18th century, with many books written in support and opposition of its ideas.
