Mishnah Torah L’Rambam, Avodah, Karbanot, Taharah. Warsaw, 1882. Handwritten glosses.
Unique Features: Throughout the book there are dozens of handwritten, lengthy scholarly glosses. The identity of the author is unknown; however, it is clear that he was a proficient Torah scholar, with expertise in all the leading later authorities. It seems that the writer, who was involved in the practical application of these halachahs that not many study, was a prominent personality. In his comments, he discusses the Kesef Mishneh “it was concealed from him …”; at times he writes, “requires further study,” at the end of his words; and he sometimes makes reference to a gloss he wrote in another location.
Condition: Moderate-fine. Acidic paper. Minimal stains. New binding.
