Sefer Sod Hashem – ritual circumcision service with dinim and commentaries [Vienna, 1814; lacking the title page.] This sefer was the property of a prominent mohel who was active in Europe in the 19th century and kept a precise list of those circumcised by him. Kowalewitz? 1860-1871. The content of the list has not been examined.
Twelve pages bound at the end of the sefer with precise details of 400 boys circumcised by this mohel 1860-1871. The list details the father’s name, the family name, the date of the brit , and occasionally also the parents’ place of residence. At the end of each year, the mohel wrote something of a hadran and a connection to the new year, for example, “I will give praise and thanks to Hashem who has kept us alive and brought us to the year [ברכ”ו א”ת ה’ לפ”ג”].
