Non-traditional haggadah – HaNoar HaOved Netanya 1940. Copy of a stencil print with illustrations.
Within the segments of the haggadah, there are occasional original passages. Towards the end of the haggadah there is a long segment, which, in distinction to the rest of the haggadah, appears as handwritten. It opens with the words: ‘Regarding our group’s destiny’ in which there is interesting reference to a group of friends who gathered together to Israel and became HaNoar HaOved Netanya, and on the other hand, those who stayed under Nazi rule. ‘Clench an evil fist and fight the distress of Jews in the diaspora … they were deported to prison camps; the fear of the gentiles is upon them and their eyes are raised to the mountains of Israel … we will send a blessing to the conquerors of desolation … the place we once stood so densely crowded, our sixteen tents … And the first twelve members who gathered in this house over the course of several months have become 70 members … These seventy have different origins, they are immigrants from the exiles of Germany and Poland, between us we are from the exiles of East and West and if native Israelis are also among us, who grew up in our Land and have not tasted the bitter exile …’ and more.
