Sefer Te’amim Nechmadim – commentary on aggadot and midrashim. Almitaaf [אלמתעף], Yemen, 1854. Small format. Detailed colophon at the end of the sefer with the discovery of an astonishing fact: This manuscript, written like those of the master scribes, was written by the child Daoud Ben Saliman, who was only ten years old at the time! Another interesting characteristic that sets this manuscript apart from others is where it was written: Altmaef de’al Bira Demay Alchuliah [אלתמעף דעל בירא דמייא אלוצ’ייה]. Only a few manuscripts remain from this location: One from 1548, preserved in David Sassoon’s collection, and the second – written by this same scribe! The second manuscript has a colophon (dated 1855) from this writer, in which he wrote that he is still studying with other children “… and I am 11 years old.” This manuscript was written a year earlier, when he was ten. 100 leaf, written on both sides. A number of leaves is apparently missing. Some of the leaves are bound in incorrect places. 12 cm. Moderate-fine condition. Usage and aging stains. Worming perforations in several leaves with slight damage to text – some are professionally restored with paper completions. Several leaves are bound in incorrect places. Faded and smudged ink in individual places with damage to the text. Well-preserved new binding.
