“… I will open the windows of the heavens for you and inundate you with never-ending blessings” (Malachi 3:10)
Letter from the Admo”r of Lubavitch to his aunt, the Rebbetzin Mrs. Rachel [Schneersohn, wife of his uncle, Rabbi Shalom Shlomo]. 11 Nissan 1953. Brooklyn, NY.
The Rebbe blesses a rare blessing in this rare letter before us – all the blessings possible to wish on someone . The Rebbe himself hints that the letter is special in its blessings, such that he opened the letter with a verse about the power to bless: “וברך לקחתי ואשיב.” The Rebbe begins with blessings for the Passover festival: “To celebrate the upcoming Passover festival with kashrut and joy.” The Rebbe continues: with blessings for sustenance: “in true comfort.” The Rebbe continues further with an all-encompassing blessing: “And may G-d fulfill all your heart’s desires for the good.” A blessing for fertility: “May [your] daughter and her husband be blessed with viable offspring” and for spiritual satisfaction [נחת] from descendants: “May your eyes see them and derive much spiritual satisfaction from them.” Health: “With blessings for proper health.” Long life: “And for length of days and good years.” And the Rebbe closes with “and as my father-in-law the Admo”r would say – goodness with all its commentaries.”
