Ashli Ravrevei. Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah with commentaries, with novellae of Rabbi Avika Eiger – printed here for the first time. Section one. Koenigsberg, 1859. Dozens of scholarly glosses.
Specifications: Throughout the pages of the book there are dozens of handwritten glosses. A good portion are extremely long. Though the writer has not been identified, he was certainly a proficient, widely respected Torah scholar. Along with his astounding knowledge in the later poskim, the terms he uses indicate that he was a Torah great, and possibly even a noted rabbi or adjudicator. He often writes, “This requires analysis,” “this apparently requires further analysis,” “Examine it …” and “I was astonished.” On leaf 175, in the Chiddushei Rabbi Akiva Eiger , he writes that the ruling requires analysis…”
Some of the glosses are signed ש”ך. It is possible that two different personalities authored the many glosses.
Condition: Fine-very fine. The margins were cropped after the glosses were written, and some words at the edges of the page were blemished. Aging stains.
