The title page is printed in Latin in red and black with a cut wooden border. The famous Tanach of Hutter. With a fourth page of the subject title and introductory text of Hutter, Hamburg, 1588, bound into the back part. Hutter’s Tanach is unique in that the roots of the words are printed in hollow letters.
Elias Hutter [1553-1609] was a Christian who learned Eastern languages in the university of Strasbourg and was appointed as Professor of Hebrew at the University of Leipzig. He published a series of editions of Tanach in Hebrew and other languages.
