Background: First edition of the important responsa composed by Rabbi Moshe Isserlin [1490 – 1520], among the great adjudicators, known as the “Terumat HaDeshen,” after his book. There are 354 responsa in his book, the numerical value of Deshen. The book’s responsa are quoted in all halachic works throughout the generations.
Unique Features: Rabbi Chaim Chazzan’s signature on the title page. Rabbi Chaim son of Yosef Chazzan was among the Izmir rabbis who immigrated to the Land of Israel in 1700, he was an emissary to Poland along with Rabbi Avraham Rewigo and passed away while in Mir, Lithuania, c. 1717. He authored the book Shenot Chaim [Venice 1693] and other novellae which remained in manuscript form. His son was Rabbi David Chazzan, author of Chozeh David. There are earlier owners’ inscriptions on the title page as well.
Condition: Fine. Perforation on leaf 2, aging stains. Some worming holes and stains on the last six pages. Simple binding.
