Derech Emet. Comments and version corrections on the Book of Zohar and Tikunei Zohar by Rabbi Yosef Chamitz. Venice, [1658]. Only edition. Signature on title page of an unidentified Sephardic sage, apparently from the era.
36, 30, 79 leaves. Mispaginated. 20 cm.
The comments are on the Zohar, Mantua edition of [1560]. The book was printed without a title page and printer’s name, since it was made as an insert to the Zohar, to enable users to clarify the correct text.
Rabbi Yosef Chamitz was a disciple-colleague of Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh of Modena (though his rabbi opposed the study of kabala). Until the year that the book was printed he lived in Venice, but later disappeared.
Modern, half-leather binding. Leaf 52 appears twice, with a number of variations. A few worming holes without loss. Aging stains. Very fine condition.
