“Tefillah L’Hatzlachat Tzva’ot Italia” – patriotic prayer for the success of Italian armies fighting for the emancipation of Italy from the foreign yoke in the name of freedom and liberty. And for the success of the King of Italy. Hebrew and Italian on facing pages.
“Men of valor have girded themselves for war and will arise as one … with their king at their head … and at this time they are fighting to banish the enemy from the whole country and return Italy to its glory as in ancient times … Victor Emmanuel, who was selected by the people of Italy to reign over them, will arise as a lion to subdue his enemy. May he accomplish and succeed in all his endeavors, and not return until he has banished foreigners from the entire land of Italy.”
Victor Emmanuel II [1820-1878] was the king of Sardinia starting in 1849. He was occupied with uniting Italy and was appointed the first king of the united Italy starting in 1861.
