Hanging Shabbat lamp. Brass. Attractive and impressive work. Five parts (from above to below): Decorated flower, ‘pear’, ‘star’ with seven branches, additional flower and a decorated weight. The star serves for filling with oil, the branches for threading the wicks. Holland, 18th century.
Height 70 cm. maximum diameter 27 cm.
The lamp served initially as an oil lamp and later was altered for use with gas. For this reason a pipe was added to join the three upper sections for the gas flow in place of the original rings used to hang the lamp.
Good condition.
