The De Menashe family was famed throughout the Middle East and is mentioned in a number of commemorative booklets of Egyptian Jewry between 1891-1916.
Baron Felix de Menashe dedicated this beautiful Mizrach sign, apparently in honor of his rescue, or the rescue of his family, during the First World War. Egyptian Jewry recognizes this form of Mizrach as a symbol of the De Menashe family.
